Director of Condominium Management

A dynamic real estate professional, Mel has been successfully managing residential properties in Chicago for over 30 years with a proven track record from luxury hi-rise buildings and exclusive vintage properties to loft apartments and townhome associations. While the size and locations of the properties are varied, Mel’s dedication to customer service and delivering results to his managed associations is consistent.

As the Director of Condominium Management for Seneca Real Estate Group, Mel works closely with the members of his team to improve the operating efficiency and customer service level of his managed associations/cooperatives. Mel leads by example and fosters a client-centric environment by engaging his entire staff in the customer service experience. Mel adeptly couples this with expertise in organizational optimization, market development, contract negotiations, compliance, budget administration and financial analysis.

Prior to Seneca, Mel was Vice President of DK Living, a Draper and Kramer Company, where he oversaw a portfolio of over 4,000 residential units which included both rental unit, homeowner associations and commercial space.  Mel has negotiated vendor service and capital improvement project contracts, functioned as liaison between Board of Directors and Developers, ensured regulatory compliance with City of Chicago and Collective Bargaining Agreements with local labor unions.  Mel was also previously the Senior Residential Real Estate Manager with Wirtz Realty Corporation and District Manager for CLK Multifamily Management.

Mel has also served as President of the Chicago Chapter of Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), the Property Management Committee and Legislative Committee with the Chicago Association of Realtors (CAR) and as a member of the Local 1 Union negotiation committee with the Apartment Building Owners and Managers Association(ABOMA).

Mel is a Licensed Association Manager and a Licensed Managing Broker in Illinois.
